Directors Statement

In 2015, inspired by my personal experience in a toxic relationship that began as a fairytale and quickly turned into a nightmare, I conceived the idea for this script. Drawing strength from my own journey through domestic violence, I felt compelled to share this narrative through a short film. Taking on the role of director was an obvious choice, I approached my producer friends with the vision to bring this story to life. Their immediate response was a resounding "YES!" Crafting "The Fairytale Nightmare," my primary goals was to explore the intricate complexities of relationships, revealing the often concealed darker realities beneath seemingly perfect surfaces. Through Tessa, a successful ad executive whose life takes a perilous turn, I aimed to illuminate the subtle signs of abuse and manipulation that can go unnoticed in the early stages of a relationship. Now, I strive to be a voice for the voiceless, encouraging women to seek assistance. If this project can impact just one woman, I would consider it a significant achievement. Consider this alarming fact: nearly 20 women per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States, totaling over 10 million women in just one year. I stand as a testament to those statistics, and this film serves as my way to shed light on this critical issue. Everyone deserves a healthy relationship.

Domestic Violence

mental-health-services-for-victims-of-domestic-and-intimate-partner-violence-2.jpg

Domestic violence is a grave and pervasive issue, encompassing physical, emotional, psychological, or financial abuse perpetrated by one partner with an intimate relationship to manipulate or harm the other. This a period problem transcends gender, age, race or socioeconomic status, impacting individuals from all walks of life. It is of utmost importance to raise awareness, extend support to victims, and collectively strive to prevent and combat domestic violence within our communities. Our team of producers and I strongly felt the urgency to address this matter. Many of us have friends or family members who have confronted the harrowing reality of domestic violence. Through our short film, "The Fairytale Nightmare," we aim to shed light on this issue and foster awareness.

Mission

The core objective of "The Fairytale Nightmare" is to bring awareness. Our goal is to bring visibility to the world stage. One tactic is to submit the short film to several film festivals in 2024. Moreover, we're working towards partnering up with a sales agent to secure a distribution deal with a major platform. Emerald City Entertainment will forge alliances with global organizations and victim advocate groups by donating a percentage of proceeds to support their call to action to end this global epidemic.
